a few months ago, i received a cryptic email from leah and jen inviting us over for dinner, and that they had news to share. i remember the thrill i felt after they shared that they were quitting their full-time jobs to put their hearts into what they enjoy doing most - cook for their family and friends.
now, here we are, awaiting the grand opening of their passion project, kitchen452. how lucky are we all to be able to enjoy the comfort of their cooking.
during this month’s Walk on Woodburn, kitchen452 planned a limited menu. cheeks and i split the following:
- spiced pumpkin topped with chives
- hot ham & swiss with green apples & dijon mustard on shadeau white bread
- grilled cheddar & tomato-lime-ginger chutney on shadeau white bread
- mom’s crumb cake
and we took home what was left of their spiced pumpkin soup to enjoy over the weekend. isn’t that enough to say their food was delish?
we felt very comfortable eating in their space. they thoughtfully chose every little detail – the framed quotes by julia childs, corn kernels in spice jars as table numbers, silverware in storage jars – all complete the vision they have of making their space a “cozy and inviting community space.” and the food is pure comfort food with a twist – green apples in a hot ham & swiss, tomato-lime ginger chutney on grilled cheese.
more photos of the space (and the food) on our flickr set here. and keep an eye for their grand opening date on their facebook page here.
